Alternative Print Formats

Large Print

When providing versions of your printed documents for people with a visual impairment, the following print size guidelines should be taken into account.

  • Depending on the typeface used, 12 point could be considered as the minimum type size for standard format.
  • If 14 point is used as standard more people can access the document
  • Print above 16 point is considered to be large print.


Clear Type

Many common type faces, including Times and Arial have letter shapes than can be confusing. Upper case letter i, lower case letter l and number one can be difficult to distinguish.
